HAECO, a leading provider of aircraft engineering and maintenance solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Economics – Technology for Industries (UNETI) to develop practical technical capabilities and support career readiness among engineering students in Vietnam.

The partnership will bring HAECO’s industry expertise into UNETI’s engineering education, helping students connect academic knowledge with the latest aviation technology, international standards and operational practices of the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector. HAECO and UNETI will explore opportunities to enhance relevant training content, expand practical learning and increase students’ exposure to technical career pathways.

The initial areas of collaboration are expected to include applied training programmes, educational equipment for practical instruction, knowledge sharing by HAECO specialists and workplace exposure for students. Through these initiatives, both organisations aim to equip graduates with a stronger understanding of the technical disciplines and professional requirements of a safety-critical industry.

William Arblaster, General Manager, Strategy Development at HAECO Group, said: “Vietnam has a strong base of young engineering talent and significant potential to develop its aviation technical capabilities. By combining UNETI’s academic foundation with HAECO’s international industry expertise, we can help students understand how engineering knowledge, modern technology and rigorous safety standards are applied in a highly regulated aviation environment. We hope this partnership will support the development of the skilled workforce needed for Vietnam’s next phase of aviation growth.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Quang, Vice Principal of UNETI, said: “UNETI is committed to ensuring that our programmes remain relevant to evolving industry needs. Our partnership with HAECO will give students valuable access to operational knowledge and practical experience, helping them build the capabilities and professional awareness required in the workplace.”

The partnership supports HAECO’s preparations for its new aircraft maintenance facility at Van Don International Airport, which is targeted to commence operations in late 2028. The facility will expand Vietnam’s local maintenance capacity, introduce international standards, advanced technology and proven operational practices, and create more than 1,000 high-skilled jobs. It will also support Vietnam’s development as a regional centre for aviation engineering and higher-value technical services. Together with the MoU signed with the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology in June 2026, HAECO’s collaboration with UNETI forms part of a broader effort to build a sustainable pipeline of local technical talent to support the new facility and contribute to the long-term growth of Vietnam’s aviation ecosystem.
