The HAECO Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tom Owen as Group Director Corporate Development, effective January 2026.

Mr. Owen brings 30 years of aviation expertise and leadership experience, including sales, revenue management, logistics, and regional oversight, both in Hong Kong and abroad, notably with Cathay. He will be responsible for shaping HAECO’s strategic direction, leading information technology and digital transformation, while advancing the Group’s sustainability commitments. Furthermore, he will cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including joint venture and government partners to reinforce HAECO's position as a leading global MRO services provider.

Richard Sell, Chief Executive Officer of HAECO Group, said, “We are delighted to welcome Tom to HAECO as a critical member of the group leadership team. His extensive industry background and global perspectives will be invaluable to HAECO as we expand our presence in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other strategic markets. With his proven leadership experience, Tom is well equipped to drive sustainable growth for the HAECO Group.”

Mr. Owen joined the Swire Group in 1995 and has built a successful career primarily at Cathay, covering areas such as marketing, sales and distribution, network revenue management, and regional leadership in various markets, including Korea, Canada, the USA, and South Asia. In 2015, he was appointed Director People, where he led the comprehensive modernisation of the Cathay Group's HR functions. In 2020, he assumed the role of Director Cargo, during which he drove the Cathay Cargo business to achieve record financial and operational results while making significant advances in digital capabilities.

The HAECO Group extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Summit Chan, who retired from the position of Group Director of Corporate Development in December 2025. Mr. Chan was pivotal in enhancing HAECO’s technological and sustainable capabilities, overseeing initiatives such as drone-assisted inspections and autonomous robots, as well as launching Hong Kong’s largest single-site solar panel project. He also successfully led HAECO Xiamen to become the first civil maintenance facility worldwide to achieve LEED Platinum certification. The HAECO Group wishes Mr. Chan continued success in his future endeavours.
