HAECO has added two new electric towbarless tractors to its ground support equipment fleet at Hong Kong International Airport, marking another step forward in our journey towards more sustainable airport operations.
Following the introduction of Hong Kong's first electric towbarless tractor in 2023, the latest additions bring HAECO's electric tractor fleet to 10 units, with electric vehicles now accounting for 30% of our tractor fleet. These electric tractors are expected to reduce carbon emissions by 75%, reducing a total of 895 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
Looking ahead, HAECO has established a long-term plan to progressively replace the remaining 25 diesel tractors and 95 diesel commercial vehicles, including crew buses, with electric vehicles by 2030.
By continuing to invest in cleaner technologies and more sustainable ground support equipment, HAECO is helping to decarbonise day-to-day operations while contributing to the aviation industry's transition towards a lower-carbon future.
