First direct GE90 engine overhaul contract with Garuda Indonesia

HAECO has recently signed its first direct GE90 engine contract with an airline operator in the Asia Pacific – Garuda Indonesia. The three-year agreement covers overhaul and repair services for Garuda’s GE90 engine fleet, marking a significant milestone that solidifies HAECO’s unique position within GE’s MRO partnership network.  Building on HAECO’s exclusive 15-year Material Service Agreement (MSA) with GE Aerospace signed in 2024, this contract is the first of its kind between GE and an MRO provider. It grants HAECO priority access to GE’s material resources, enabling it to deliver unique benefits and value to airline customers like Garuda Indonesia.  Leveraging HAECO’s renowned expertise in GE90 engines, this partnership will enhance the efficiency and resilience of Garuda Indonesia’s fleet operations, helping the airline remain competitive in the global aviation market.  With its license as an authorised GE90 Service Provider, a GE90 Center of Excellence, and sole holder of the GE90 GBSA in Asia extended to 2040 and exclusive MSA, HAECO’s new contract with Garuda Indonesia further consolidates its leadership in the GE90 overhaul market.

Line maintenance partnership with Cathay Pacific expanded to A321neo fleet

Since 1 July 2025, HAECO has commenced providing line maintenance support for Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A321neo fleet at Hong Kong International Airport. Our comprehensive suite of services now include line maintenance planning, transit checks with Certificates of Release to Service, cabin cleaning, cabin maintenance, overnight maintenance up to A-checks, engine on-wing maintenance, ground equipment support, aircraft exterior washing, and aircraft-on-ground (AOG) recovery. This marks a significant milestone, as Cathay Pacific has become our largest narrowbody customer by flight volume. We now provide support for the flag carrier’s entire fleet of narrowbody, widebody, passenger, and freighter aircraft at its Hong Kong hub. Through our Centre of Excellence (CoE), a joint initiative established between HAECO and Cathay Pacific, our teams have clear visibility of manpower, tooling, spare parts, and equipment. This empowers them to plan maintenance tasks more effectively and efficiently manage AOG situations. Looking ahead, HAECO remains committed to delivering exceptional line maintenance services and strengthening our partnership with Cathay Pacific. By continuously enhancing our capabilities and adopting innovative solutions, we aim to support the airline's operational excellence and contribute to the growth of Hong Kong's aviation industry.

HAECO achieves first Boeing 747-8 GEnx-2B thrust reverser delivery

In July 2025, HAECO’s advanced composite facility in Jinjiang, the Chinese Mainland, achieved a new milestone by successfully delivering its first Boeing 747-8 GEnx-2B thrust reversers to an airline operator in the Asia-Pacific region. This marks a first for HAECO in contributing to the GEnX Thrust Reverser maintenance programme and supporting the regional operator on major nacelle maintenance. Demonstrating our commitment to providing value-driven solutions despite supply chain challenges, HAECO Composite Services developed alternative engineering approaches tailored to the operator’s needs. These solutions significantly reduced both turnaround time and maintenance costs for the operator, ensuring their fleet returned to service quickly and efficiently. This achievement was made possible through strong, collaborative partnerships. Throughout the project, HAECO worked closely with the airframer and operator to ensure a seamless repair workflow. Acting as the airframer’s extended support unit, we facilitated the transfer of their spare parts to our facility, managing the process from inspection, certification to shipment. This closed-loop collaboration ensured the airline’s operational requirements were met without compromise. The delivery of our first GEnx-2B thrust reverser represents an important step forward for HAECO, showcasing our expanded capabilities and strong partnerships with global operators. It also demonstrates our ability to deliver reliable, timely, and cost-effective composite repair solutions, reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in the aviation ecosystem.

Inspiring future aviators on Girls in Aviation Day

HAECO proudly celebrated Girls in Aviation Day 2025, reinforcing our commitment to empower women and promote gender diversity in aviation. In Hong Kong, we partnered with The Women’s Foundation and Cathay to host secondary students from Girls Go Tech at our hangars. They got a closer look at an aircraft, saw our robotic warehouse in action, and gained hands-on experience with maintenance tools in our training facilities. The girls also engaged with our engineering, IT, and project management teams to learn about future career paths and ignite their passion for aviation.  HAECO Composite Services team in Jinjiang, China, also welcomed a group of primary school students for an interactive tour of their shop. The young girls had the unique opportunity to explore aircraft components up close and discover the fascinating techniques and technologies behind composite repair. In the U.S., our Greensboro and Lake City teams supported Women in Aviation International's global initiative by engaging participants with hands-on activities using real aircraft parts and tools, explaining the workings of aircraft maintenance and repair, and sharing insights from their daily work at HAECO to spark young girls’ interest. We were delighted to see the enthusiasm of our visitors and grateful to everyone involved for making these events a success. We hope these experiences inspire the next generation of women to pursue aviation careers and confidently follow their dreams.
