Who says dreams can hardly come true? In August, we were honoured to welcome teenager Chen Tsz-kin and his three friends to our maintenance hangars in Hong Kong for a special visit organized by Cathay. Diagnosed at one and a half years old with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive and incurable condition that causes muscle weakness, Tsz-Kin has always had a deep passion for aviation.

With HAECO’s support, Tsz-kin’s dream to experience aviation at its core became a reality. Guided by two of our engineers, the group visited a Boeing 777 passenger aircraft and a Boeing 747 freighter up close. Being within an arm’s reach of the widebody aircraft, they explored how our teams ensure aircraft safety, learned about the engineering complexities involved, and experienced the vast scale of aviation first-hand.  

Tsz-kin’s determination to plan this journey for his friends and his curiosity about the behind-the-scenes aviation work were truly inspiring. His spirit reflects values that are important to HAECO: care, safety, and empowering remarkable young people in our community.
