HAECO has strengthened its line maintenance partnership with Japan Airlines (JAL) at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, being the Japanese flag carrier’s first overseas MRO services provider entrusted with advanced, non-routine tasks such as technical inspections, lubrication, testing, and cleaning at one of the airline’s key outstations. Takashi Koimai, Senior Vice President – Aircraft Maintenance Center Narita of JAL Engineering Co., Ltd., said, “We are proud to assign our first planned maintenance task entrustment at an overseas station to HAECO, a company with whom we have built a strong relationship over many years. As an airline committed to the highest standards of flight safety and overall service quality, striving to be the most preferred airline by customers worldwide, we are pleased to have a long-standing partner who can support our service.” Our partnership with JAL began in 2018 when HAECO started providing line maintenance checks for Spring Japan, a JAL joint venture, at multiple Chinese Mainland outstations. Since then, the collaboration has expanded to cover JAL’s fleet in Beijing, Dalian, Shanghai Pudong, and Tianjin by 2024. The new contract underscores JAL’s confidence in HAECO’s best-in-class capabilities and reinforces our successful, long-standing relationship. Looking ahead, we are exploring opportunities with JAL to extend this specialised line maintenance partnership to additional stations across JAL’s network.

Recently, our Composite Services team in Jinjiang, Chinese Mainland, achieved a major milestone by pioneering an out-of-manual repair solution for an A350 wing trailing edge access panel. The panel had sustained multiple disbonded areas as a result of water ingress and was initially slated for replacement. Nonetheless, our skilled engineers developed a cutting-edge solution that met all regulatory requirements while fully restoring the panel’s structural integrity. This innovative solution not only minimised aircraft downtime but also delivered significant cost savings for our airline customer. This achievement underscores our focus on repair-versus-replacement and sets a new industry benchmark for composite repairs. Fuelled by a strong “can do” attitude and exceptional teamwork, HAECO will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in MRO solutions, delivering state-of-the-art services to our customers.
